Florence is the first Bitterroot community you reach heading south from Lolo, where the valley opens up between the Bitterroot Range to the west and the Sapphire Mountains to the east. Plenty of people here commute to Missoula, and the area has grown from farms and older homes along the highway into newer subdivisions, homes on acreage and houses tucked along the Eastside Highway toward Stevensville. Winters bring cold, still nights when frigid air settles on the valley floor, and summers can run hot and smoky. That mix of older and newer houses means we see everything from long-running furnaces and boilers to brand-new heat pumps.

HVAC Services for Florence Homes and Businesses

We repair and replace gas, propane and electric furnaces, service boilers and hot-water baseboard, and install and repair hydronic radiant floor heat. For efficient heat and summer cooling, we install cold-climate heat pumps and ductless mini-splits, including hybrid setups that keep a furnace or boiler as backup for the coldest nights, and we install and repair central air. Fall and spring tune-ups and maintenance plans help keep everything running. See every service on our HVAC services page.

For businesses, shops and new buildings, we work on commercial HVAC, including rooftop units, unit heaters and make-up air, and we install complete systems in new homes and commercial construction.

Heating Notes for Florence Homes

Florence sits at roughly 3,200 feet in the north end of the valley. Homes in and near town often heat with natural gas furnaces where gas service reaches, while homes on acreage and farther out commonly run on propane, electric heat, or a boiler with baseboard or radiant floors. If you heat with propane, check the tank gauge regularly once it gets cold and keep a clear, plowed path for the delivery truck. High-efficiency furnaces like the one above vent through PVC pipes on the side of the house, so keep those intake and exhaust pipes clear of drifting snow after storms. For hot-water heat, see our boiler service page.

Will a heat pump work for a Florence home?

Often, yes. Cold-climate heat pumps handle much of a Bitterroot winter, and pairing one with a furnace or boiler for backup covers the coldest nights.
